Intrepid Metals Lines Up Drilling at New Kate Copper-Gold Target in Arizona

Systematic surface work has produced a new drill target in southeastern Arizona. On October 6, Intrepid Metals Corp. (TSXV: INTR | OTCQB: IMTCF) announced the Kate Target at its Corral Copper Project in Cochise County, a carbonate-replacement style copper-gold target about 1.5 kilometres south-southwest of the Ringo Zone, with drilling planned in the coming weeks.

At a glance
  • Kate was generated from geological mapping, surface geochemistry, and oxygen-isotope analysis — lower isotope values and elevated gold and tellurium suggest hydrothermal fluids moved through the limestone host rocks.
  • Historical drilling at the target returned copper-gold mineralization, including hole MH-03: 27.43 m of 0.65% copper, 0.98 g/t gold, and 17.2 g/t silver, with higher-grade internal intervals — historical results, not yet verified by Intrepid drilling.
  • The historical hole ended in mineralization, and the company reports individual historical grades up to 3.2% copper and 5.72 g/t gold.
  • Field crews documented bleached and locally marbleized limestone, silica replacement, and altered dikes at surface — consistent with the distal expression of a carbonate-replacement system.
  • Intrepid plans to drill-test Kate in the coming weeks to verify the historical results and test for additional mineralization.

Why Kate matters at Corral

Corral is a district-scale system, and Kate tests whether the mineralization repeats south of the established Ringo Zone rather than ending there. The target was not found by drilling first — it was built from surface vectors, then strengthened when the historical drill record turned out to point the same way. That sequence, groundwork before drill steel, is how districts get bigger without burning metres on guesses.

One caveat, kept visible

The encouraging drill numbers are historical. Intrepid states plainly that it has not independently verified the old sampling or analysis, that true thicknesses are not yet determined, and that the planned drilling is what will verify the results. Until those holes are drilled and assayed, Kate is a well-built target — not a discovery.
