Maverick Clears a Key BLM Step Toward Drilling Its Gator Gold Property in Nevada

Maverick Gold and Silver is one procedural step closer to putting a drill on its Gator property in north-central Nevada.

At a glance
  • The BLM has acknowledged Maverick's Notice of Intent covering access-road construction, eight drill pads and proposed drilling.
  • The two targets are Gator South and GSX, both on the Gator property in Pershing County.
  • Drilling may proceed after the required reclamation bond is posted and the BLM confirms acceptance — that step is still ahead.
  • Gator covers 160 claims, about 3,306 acres (13.4 sq km) of federal land, about 56 km south-southwest of Battle Mountain, with year-round access on county roads.
  • Mapping and sampling outline a system running along a roughly seven-kilometre north-south structural corridor.

Why these two targets

The company describes Gator as a distal disseminated-style epithermal gold-silver system. Gator South sits in the central part of the property, inside a down-dropped structural block within the broader trend. GSX, at the southern end, centres on strongly silicified sediments carrying anomalous gold, mercury and arsenic across an area of about 400 by 700 metres — a signature the company interprets as the upper-level expression of a deeper hydrothermal system.

The planned holes are designed to test beneath the surface alteration and geochemical anomalies at both targets. There are no drill results yet, and no mineral resource has been stated for Gator.

Neighbourhood context — with the limits stated

Gator sits in well-known country: roughly 36 km southwest of the producing Phoenix mine and about 19 km west-southwest of the past-producing Cove-McCoy mine. Proximity to other deposits explains why explorers work this ground; it does not transfer grade or economics to Gator. Maverick also noted the recent SSR Mining–Roxmore transaction in the Battle Mountain district, pointing to a shared host-rock formation — context for interest in the area, not a result at Gator itself.

What to watch

Bond posting and acceptance, then a drill start date and a hole plan with depths. Maverick says it aims to drill-test all three of its properties within a 12-month period, with a third project, Jericho, also being advanced toward drilling in the coming months. The first assays from Gator South and GSX will be the first real test of the surface story.
