Stillwater Critical Minerals Graduates to OTCQX as Stillwater West Advances in Montana

Montana's Stillwater district carries a distinction no other U.S. mining district can claim, and the junior exploring beside it just widened its access to American investors. On October 9, OTC Markets announced that Stillwater Critical Minerals Corp. (TSXV: PGE; OTCQX: PGEZF) had qualified for the OTCQX Best Market.

At a glance
  • Stillwater Critical Minerals upgraded from the OTCQB Venture Market to OTCQX, continuing to trade in the U.S. under the symbol PGEZF, and on the TSX Venture Exchange as PGE.
  • OTCQX qualification requires meeting financial standards, corporate-governance practices and securities-law compliance; the company frames the move as improving U.S. investor visibility, accessibility and liquidity.
  • The flagship asset is the 100%-owned Stillwater West project in Montana's Stillwater mining district, directly adjacent to Sibanye-Stillwater's operating Stillwater mines and processing infrastructure — described in the release as the only primary platinum-group-element producing complex in the United States.
  • An NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate released in August 2026 underpins the current story, spanning nickel, platinum-group elements, copper, cobalt, chromium and gold, and including ten minerals currently listed as critical in the United States, per the company.
  • Management says the U.S. market upgrade comes while the company continues resource-expansion, resource-upgrade and technical-study work at Stillwater West, with Glencore among its strategic investors.

Why a ticker upgrade rates a Pulse note

A market-tier change moves no rock. Its relevance here is jurisdictional: Stillwater West is a U.S. critical-minerals project, in a producing U.S. district, being financed largely through Canadian listings. Putting the stock on the top U.S. over-the-counter tier, with real-time Level 2 quotes available to U.S. investors, narrows the gap between where the project sits and where its natural investor base sits.

It also lands six weeks after the August resource update reset the scale of the project on paper — which is precisely why the geology, not the listing, has to do the next round of work.

One caveat, kept visible

An OTCQX graduation is a disclosure-and-visibility milestone, not an operating one; it changes who can easily buy the shares, not what is in the ground. Stillwater West remains an exploration and development project: mineral resources are not mineral reserves and have no demonstrated economic viability, and the path from a large polymetallic resource to a permitted, financed mine beside a producing complex is long and study-dependent. Watch for metallurgical results, resource-upgrade drilling and technical studies — those, not the ticker, will price this project.
